Hair cut horror

Hey! I gotta hair cut. How does it look? Oh! I basically got a trim, so not much of styling or anything but you know how we girls can get about haircuts. That reminds me am not so much of a hair cut person. Well I mean that I dont splurge on them at all. I do have a whole lotta girlie pals who do. Haircuts arer big in their part of the world and so are blow drys etc. I like the natural look though. Hey! I have a funny blow dry story about my friends but that later. Anyway, after I saw what the rains did to my hair I had to get out of churchgate station and get myself to a salon. Well, I did. And I was in just for a basic cut nothing too fancy and no change in the style as such. I think it was the first time I had  male cutting my hair. Now the things about males is that they are far from gentle. We feminine creatures are too soft for their rough and rugged touch. Don’t get me wrong, he didn’t manhandle me or anything. Infact he chopped my locks just right and am happy with the end result; but the journey wasn’t smooth. My head was whisked back and forth as if he were hitting a ball with a golf stick! I swear! He also put his finger into my eye apart from ruffling my hair and feathers a little bit. Phew! Well here’s a piece of pink advice: Girls are gentle. They are soft and tender. HANDLE WITH CARE. Please. Don’t tug and pull. Avoid touching too hard or tweaking. And if you cant help it, go work on a guy’s hair, leave the pretty tresses alone!

Varying Vendors

Ok tell me something; do you go to the same salon again and again and to the same old hairstylist too? Well here’s my take. I feel that how can the same hairstylist give you a good change or a new look each time? I mean how can you be so sure that he/she knows what you want? And what if they dont get it right? My mantra is to try a different guy/girl each time, this way even if you are unhappy, there is no discomfort as you know you are only going to see them once. So its more like I don’t like any sorta consistency or stability with my hair stylists at such. Am game for something new and fresh. For I feel if there is a person who knows me too much and is trying too understand me too much may simply not enjoy cutting my hair! You know what I mean? Its more like pressure for the person. And cut them some slack, they are hair stylists not psychologists. Well, that’s the way I like it. How about you? What’s your haircut funda? And have you had like a big BAD HAIR CUT horror that you wanna talk about? C’mon it’ll be fun ;-)

P.S. Why the pic? Well Gorgeous Girlie can get away with anything as long as she is girlie?  Isn’t it ? ;-)

Surely Girly! July 15, 2010

SHE is SURE.

SURE Deodorant

SURE Deodorant

Hey you! How are things? Wassup you busy city girl you? Loads of stress? Is the rain spoiling your mood or better still cheering you up! I wanna know! I wanna know! Write to me at girlyhour@gmail.com and tell me how your day was and I promise to make it better :) Ok here’s all the stuff I’ve been upto. I’ve been out and about as usual on the look out for girly things to see, shop, sniff!

Perfume Person OR Deodorant Damsel?

Now Iam a Deodorant person. I don’t know about you. Iam not so much of a perfume person. Well one of the reasons being perfumes leave stains on your stuff. Well I’ve had not so nice experiences with perfumes in the past. And if you are always in a rush you don’t want that perfume to leave all pretty patches on your clothes right? Well I definitely do want to have that special perfume and use it on big occasions but deos work for me. The bottles are non breakable. The nozzle is user-friendly (unlike a nozzle of the perfume that I was gifted that came off a bit too soon and now the perfume rests peacefully in the bottle and has become more of a display item lying in my drawer each time I open it) So make the deo user-friendly and all game. Big bottles are cool but breakables are not. Keep breakables at bay for girlie is always at play. I had been meaning to try SURE the one Miss Ghajini Girl Asin has been promoting off late? When you say SURE, it makes you think (I know it’s an irony. It shouldn’t make you think but it should make you feel sure.) But what I mean is that it makes you want to think about the product and how confidently it promotes itself. So I went ahead and got me a SURE roll on. I had no preconceived notions except I thought to myself that this better live upto itself expectations; and I think I can say that am happy with it.

SURE thing!

  • It’s non sticky.
  • It’s fragrant
  • It’s not the over powering fragrance but yet its nice and pleasant something you can wear to work or on a date.
  • What’s more the bottle is quite compact so it fits in your sling bag as well as your mobile pouch let alone your big office bag.

Girls like it when you are SURE.

So sure works for me. And what a coincidence! I met a girlie pal of mine today and she too bought the same thing yesterday. Hmm. I think Sure is not just working for me alone. Well girls have a knack of choosing something that promises them stability, a sure shot guarantee, commitment (guys get the message) and I guess Sure does have that promise too in its brand. And it delivers.

Happy pictures make a HAPPY ME! :)

You know how you look at a color and your heart goes BOOM! A flower in your living room and you are all thrilled? A radiant rainbow and you feel your dreams are fulfilled? Pictures and colors have a way of making us happier than we think. I dont know if its color therapy but I definitely do know that these are some of the things, colors, sights that are making me all smiles :) Hope they will do the same for you!

Drooling over diaries…

Diaries & Journals (www.anandprakash.com)

Diaries & Journals (www.anandprakash.com)

Dear Diary

Ever since I was a child, I love diaries! Of all kinds. From simple small note pads to big organized planners, registers and secret diaries with lock and key to writing pads and note books. If it was stationery I was not far away from it. Perhaps it was one of the signs that my parents should have read and understood that I’d take a liking towards writing when I grow up. Anyway, they never did quite pick up the signs but destiny had its plan and I decided to take up writing! Boy! Am glad :)

The point is I always have diaries around me. They are either stashed away in my bedside drawer on at the back of my closet or in my stationery section. These may be used or unused or even half used and kept aside. Well am really fond of them! If there is one thing I pick up wherever I travel is diaries, letter writing stationery and more of that! Here is one of the pretty pink purse shaped diaries added to my collection besides the 2010 Grantas Writers Diary and another one that I picked up on Delhi airport sometime back.

Writing diaries?

Do you like diaries? And you have a secret one too? Where do you usually pick up your diaries? Girlie’s gotta know so do come back with your diary story and even stories that maybe in your diary ;-)

What’s in your bag baby? July 12, 2010

You know I wonder what you have in your bag there. Me? Oh I have like tons of stuff, some of it others find useful, some of it they find useless, all of which I find exciting! I do. I thought of all the stuff in my bag when I was passing the security test at Infiniti Mall this morning and it was being scanned. As my bag passed through the belt, I noticed the cop looking at the screen carefully and I felt he was a wee bit amused at all the things he spotted!

Its my bag and it has all the things that I am gonna need and I think am gonna need and there are also things which I almost never need but they are still in it as you never know right? So to give you an idea, there is a mini pink torch which no points for guessing I bought from the train. Gosh! They sell some practical stuff in there.

Pink n Powerful - Mini Torch

Pink n Powerful - Mini Torch

It’s practical yet its pink- goes in my bag and on girlyhour! It also has all my USB chords entangled with one another, they are inseparable. Then there are 2-3 diaries all of which serve a definite and different purpose ( a post on my diaries later) You are getting the type of stuff am referring to? How about you? What do you carry in your bag? Is it something crazy? Wild? Exciting? Pink? I have to know this. You gotta tell me like now!

Birthday Shoes! Shoes! Shoes! (Echo)

Birthday Shoes! Shoes! Shoes! (Echo)

Watta Wonder Week!

Yea! It seems that way; I mean the way the week began was with a bang! And I did manage to get my first birthday gift of this year. YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY! There it is, right on top! Running shoes from Reebok! (Ooh that rhymes!) You think they are cool enough? I love them. Well, they are very similar to the DKNY shoes I spotted only more comfortable and cheap. There are pink balloons floating all around me and my face is shining in a baby pink cloud as I write this; there is music and melody in the world; and am the most beautiful girl! Aah. Birthdays have a way of making me all mush :) Coming to the point! Here’s how my monday began!

Chatting. Chaat. Chicks.

An old friend, my first birthday gift, catching up with a girly pal, lots of chatting on the phone with friends, clients, meetings, sincere students doing their homework for a chance. It was a good day or a little better if I may say. I feel nice. Oh! Wait a min. I know what this is about. You know how am always saying about numerology and how all the nos that amount to no.3 are my lucky days – well there you go! Its 12th July! And I know what it was all happy! Its 12. 1 + 2 = 3 = LUCKY ME :)

I bought me some bling from the train really gorgeous! Some beads, some fake gold. The joy in the these gold look alikes; well for clumsy, scatter brain sirens like me, all this works perfectly. I can forget it anywhere and not be all guilty. I can scratch it, break it or even throw it away if I please. A girl’s gotta have her choices right? Imagine being stuck with the same old boring gold bangle all the time. Yikes!

I also gobbled down some chatpata chaat for lunch (skipped the meal again! Oops! Iam so dead if family reads this) But what’s life without a little teekha in a day? :)

Cute Comb Cleaner

Cute Comb Cleaner

Girl bonding! Comb Cleaning!

After doing some business in the burbs, I hopped onto a train back home and just when I was about to get off on my destination – station; a friend from the past, from college days appeared with a smiling face! :) I was glowing, gleaming and was delighted to say the least. You know I rarely get to hang and bond with my gal pals as all of them live so far away and I discovered she is right next door and we can totally hang out and dance n shout n go window shopping out n about! Ok, time to rewind a wee bit and pause. Before the friend surfaced in the train appeared yet another exotic – if I may use that word – product! A comb cleaner! :) Now I hate soaking the comb in the mug and going in the sun getting rid of the murk – so this comb cleaner at Rs 10 is god sent.

Monday is looking good and am optimistic that the week will be wonderful too! Here’s wishing you a fun, happy, loving and a beautiful and blessed week ahead. Ok that didnt sound like me at all! Happy raiding the sales! ;-)

My day in pictures: Super Saturday!

So here’s all that happened. Tried to capture all the girly and gorgeous stuff! Enjoy! :)

Long Kurtas & Short Kurtis

Long Kurtas & Short Kurtis

It was regular rainy day in Mumbai when I had less work to do and was in mood to look all pretty, catch up with my girlfriends and just be! You know what I mean :)! I was leisurely walking down the Wodehouse road with an umbrella in one hand and my mobile in another when I looked at a pretty pink n white board that said “SUGAR”. A new store? What? When! I had to step in.

Spot it!

Nr. Colaba Post office, this store is in the interiors of Colaba, walking distance from Charagh Din Showroom. When did this come in? How did I not see this earlier? The name did it for me. It was a girly name. It was inviting and I had time on my hands. I started walking towards the store. I walked in. And I was mesmerized even more.

Charming Chappals

Charming Chappals

TOPSY-TURVY! All tops no pants. The place has a range of semi-casual, dressy, dainty tops with laces and pearls in pinks, peaches and whites. You know those dreamy outfits the Yashraj women are wearing on the ott farms, the lacey stuff, the feminine cuts, the free flowing fabrics. Get the drift?

An assortment of 20 designers stir up the recipe and make Sugar sweeter. Tops you can wear to dinners, dates, weddings of  mates et al.  Starting at Rs 1200/- I think you should consider their peasant tops and floral prints. They are particularly pretty and I haven’t seen them anywhere else yet. You know what I also like here? Their clutches, which were not the usual in your face, bling bling designs, they were classier and subtle. Your mom can carry them and so can you.  A lot of outfits can also be part of your trousseau if you are not a very fussy bride. So there you have it! Looks like Sugar is a store am heading back to very soon. Aaah. My birthday isn’t far away and the store is hop-skip-jump from home! :) I could get my birthday outfit at Sugar and it will turn out to be SuperSweet!
