Girly Hour

Chic Clothes. Girlie Goodies. Beautiful Bling! Etc.

I spent a girly hour did you? September 29, 2009

“Girly hours are good. Girly hours are fun! Girls can make you laugh and turn your troubles into half! Girly hours are meant for all the girls I recommend them to everyone!”

What a day! I met up with a close gal pal of mine who came to Sobo to shop at the famous Colaba Causeway. We went for lunch at the famous Cricket Club of India (CCI) and spoke about everything from life, love, life without love and life with it – things that make us happy and the ones that make us happier. Friends with rocking love lifes and the ones whose love lives are on the rocks. All this over a few glasses of wine and we had an afternoon we will remember for sometime to come. And then it was time to shop till we drop!

So I decided to take her to some stores I thought she should try out. The first one was Oak tree at Colaba Causeway. The bling bling store with trinkets and bracelets and jhoomkas and elaborate neck pieces. Even the likes of Shobha De come here to add to their glam quotient. After this we headed to Kazo boutique – aaah I love the store or rather the stuff. The new collection is so grunge replete with jeans in grey and blue with zipper pockets and tees that you wanna pick up before they run out. Some of the formal wear with boat necks and big buttons also fits completely into my wardrobe. You too shouls try out my favourite stores on Colaba Causeway. Incase you are wandering around the streets of Colaba and don’t know where to shop send me an email on girlyhour@gmail.com or notjustjeans@gmail.com and I will set it right for you!

Smooth sailing September 28, 2009

Puma sailor tee

Puma sailor tee

Oh so you gotta boat for your birthday last year? Living the good life? Well I haven’t yet come close to sailing or getting a boat but who cares when you can still feel like a sailor with cool sailing clothes! Trendy eh? Puma’s new sailing collection really works for me. I couldnt stop ogling at their new tees and sailor pants. Extremely wearable and stylish, Puma brings a whole range of cool trousers you can stay comfortable in. If you are always on the move, they are perfect for you. I must say the bags were not so exciting this time as they are usually but definitely a “thumbs up” for their clothes this season. Puma’s best collection in Mumbai is at Atria Mall and Phoenix Mills.

Contemporary shopping…!

Contemporary Arts and Crafts

Contemporary Arts and Crafts

Oh hey there! Its’ Dassera time. I hope you are feeling the festivities with Diwali just around the corner. Iam all kicked about the lights, diyas and crackers and the fun! Infact I can hear the Durga puja immersion celebrations right through my window as I type this. The people whistling, dancing, the festive music. Iam thrilled! Although I hope we all go organic and don’t burst the regular crackers and do pay attention to the environment while we celebrate whole heartedly.

Coming to my favourite topic Shopping! I was at Napeansea Road today and was wanting to look at the stuff at the Contemporary Arts & Crafts the store opposite Dermalogica. Its a really warm place to be in and just hang around if you want to kill some time. The place is full of unique interior decorating items like a colorful fish shaped flask that you can use to pour water with or their vibrant storage boxes or stationery items. The place was friendly and a lot of fun to be at. I had some spare time before I headed to my class and I did come back with a few finger puppets, a cute and kitschy fish shaped (i think they have a lot fish themed stuff, wonder why!) spectacle case and some pencil holders too. Looking for gifts for friends and family? There is a lot of elegant stuff to bring home. Go ahead, delight yourself and others..!

Truly stylish. Truly Tarana! September 26, 2009

Tarana Kapoor

Tarana Kapoor

Bold. Brazen. Beautiful! Tarana Kapoor or Tarana Raja Kapoor has been a popular RJ, VJ, dancer and has donned many hats. I was particularly inspired by her enthusiasm and professionalism when I worked with her at a radio station a few years ago. She so deserves to be on my NJJ Celebs list for her forthright attitude and always inventive style quotient. From jumpsuits to feminine outfits, she carries them all of with immense elan. If you are a fan too, go support her and watch her new play Some girls byt QTP productions at NCPA Experimental Theater, Nariman point (Call: 22824567).
Kudos Tarana! Always a fan.

Will the Chemistry be recreated?

CHEMISTRY BOUTIQUE MUMBAI

Hi there! Its a bright and beautiful Saturday and I have done my retail therapy for today. Yep! Saturdays for me are all about indulgence. So after my morning class I headed to Sobo Central at Tardeo and bagged myself pretty flower ear-rings (Wearing them now) along with a bling bling butterfly pendant, an army cargo pant (I’ve been wanting that for the longest time) and cool new bohemian handbag. Why so much shopping? Its Diwali time and I needed to pamper myself ! 🙂

Now the deal is that the festive season has begun and every store wants you to buy their goodies! Chemistry, Esjay International, Sunil Jhangiani’s store too claims to have a new collection. I have been an ardent admirer of Chemistry when it started but the last few years I have been dissappointed with their quality and designs. As you will see the images, some really chic and stylish work done there. Well, let’s hope the situation changes soon and for the better…!

Perhaps you and I can get creative this Diwali and wear something completely out of the box and out of the ordinary. It doesn’t have to be bold or completely out there yet it can be traditional, elegant and chic. What say?

If you like what you see, here is where to get it from!

Diwali Decking up!

Sattva, Khar

Sattva, Khar

Aaaaah! Its Diwali. Time to bring out the bling! The traditional kurtis, the fusion attire; the clinging bangles The bright traditional outfits, matching jewelery, pink totes, shimmering golden Kolhapuri Chappal et all. Diwali a few years ago was all about being in the Diwali pooja and then bursting crackers but once you grow up its all about the new clothes and looking your best! Atleast for the girls, its all about the look. Shopping for Diwali? Loads of exhibitions lined up in Mumbai but if you want names of some store I recommend. Here they are. (Welcome trumpet!) Sattva at Khar Linking road for their traditional not OTT outfits, fusion wear that you can team up with different things on different occasions. They also have some excellent jewelery to go with your kurtis and fusion wear. That tops my list! Other favorites remain Oak tree Colaba, Fab India at KalaGhoda, Phoenix and yes the Palladium at Phoenix is about to open soon. So stay tuned in for all the dope on that!
